Made with participants in the Get Out There: Preparing for a Career in the Photography Industry programme, this short video offers advice from young people for a career in photography.
Get Out There! was a year-long project run by The Photographers’ Gallery, with a five month period of 12 workshops running between November 2015 and March 2016, followed by a period of one-to-one mentoring with industry professionals. The course, run by photographer Lottie Davies, aimed to demystify the business of photography and help its young participants launch a career in the industry.
Twelve 16-24 year olds, deemed at an economic, social or educational disadvantage, participated in the course. They were identified or recruited through their teachers, tutors, parents or carers, or through the Gallery’s contacts in youth, education or gallery settings.
This video was made at the end of all sessions and mentoring, during the programme end celebration. The Get Out There! programme was generously supported by the Eranda Foundation.
